Welcome to the website of writer Stacey C. Johnson. This website is a work-in-progress, much like the writer herself. When prompted to describe what she does, she says this:

I am compelled to explore liminal spaces between despair and hope. What matters is discovery: how meaning is shaped and reshaped through language, especially in times that seem dark.  Most of my pieces begin in the spirit of unscripted prayers.

I graduated from The College of the Holy Cross with a degree in English Literature. After a period of time I refer to as "the road years" during which I pursued various odd jobs, mostly seasonal, while listening to people in various parts of the country, I began teaching, because I am moved by the hope and promise of education, particularly for young adults in their formative years. I earned my MA in Education (Focus on Technology) from San Diego State University in 2010, and continued writing through various life changes. A few years after my daughter was born, I decided to pursue writing more seriously, and I began my MFA at San Diego State University, where I have grown tremendously under the mentorship of esteemed writers like Katie Farris, Stephen-Paul Martin, and Harold Jaffe.

I write and teach in San Diego County with my daughter, Grace, who is the absolute light of my life.
